The Dodge Brothers Company was founded back in 1900, and was used to sell bikes in the beginning. Soon, they began helping to supply transmissions and engines for use in the automotive industry. The company was successful from the start, producing chassis and engines for Ford Motor Company and Olds Motor Vehicle Company. They decided to manufacture their own line of vehicles, and in 1914, produced the Model 30. The company shifted their focus to producing and manufacturing their own automobiles. They ranked second in overall sales of cars by 1916. The company was eventually purchased by Chrysler in 1928. Dodge vehicles established a reputation of producing full-size passenger vehicles and trucks. They eventually produced midsized cars starting in the 70s.
